St Kevins Kilians NYC Trip 2025

St Kevins Kilians NYC Trip 2025

Wow! Reflecting on what has been a phenomenal and historical week for St Kevins Kilians, here’s
a few photos of the group throughout the week in the big apple. We are so proud of the lads
who behaved impeccably on and off the pitch, and in blistering heat, they are an absolute
credit to their club, families and our parish. Its shows what is possible when an idea is
followed through with grit, determination and a can do attitude.

We left Dublin airport Monday morning and by that evening, the lads/families were cycling
around central park like locals . Up bright and early Tuesday morning for some sight
seeing and shopping around Times Square before getting the subway to Gaelic Park, huge
thanks to Eamon Fitzgerald NY GPO for helping arrange the two matches that night where
the lads gave an excellent account of themselves. Big thanks also to Caroline Martin for
organising the food, drinks and hospitality on the day.

Wednesday morning was a day of sightseeing where we took in the Statue of Liberty, Ellis
Island, 911 memorial museum and Brooklyn Bridge. Back to the hotel to change before
taking in the Mets baseball game in Queens, a fantastic spectacle and hugely enjoyed by all.
Was even time for a beer for the parents afterwards!

On Thursday we visited the Empire State building, grand central station and Chrysler
Building, along with breakout visits to 5 th Avenue, Madison Avenue and various other
hotspots. That evening we travelled to Orangeburg where Rockland GAA hosted us, again
impeccably. The lads again played brilliantly in both games, showing no signs of tiredness
regardless of the previous games, the sightseeing or the heat. Massive thanks to Mark
Comerford, Niall McKenna and all at Rockland GAA for the welcome, hospitality,
presentation of the commemorative plaque and kind words to the club.

On Friday, up again early for breakfast before visiting Jersey Gardens for some outlet
shopping before heading back to JFK for the journey home. Looking forward to the next
one…

We would like to recognize the efforts of Ciaran Long and Colm Brogan, along with the U16
and Minor mentors, the parents who travelled and the fundraising committee for making this
possible for the lads.

Thank you.
